WCTC wins Gold in Belgium

PUURS, Belgium, April 17, 2011 – Representing the USA and West Coast Training Center at the Flanders International Acro Cup (FIAC). Both WCTC mixed pairs, Ani Smith / Jake Kanavel and Cassie Lim / Brian Kincher won Gold!

Ani and Jake’s division was difficult with strong competitors from Kazakhstan, Great Britain and Belgium. With Belgium competing on their home turf, the competition between the two mixed pairs was close with Ani and Jake always in the lead by a couple tenths in preliminaries.  Many spectators and judges commented positively on their high level skills and mature artistry. The pair continued to compete with confidence in finals beating the Belgians by 0.6 with a score of 28.7. This is the pair’s first Gold medal at an international competition. They wore it proudly as the USA National Anthem played during the award ceremonies.

WCTC’s senior mixed pair, Cassie and Brian competed in the out-of-age senior category representing West Coast Training Center at the FIAC. They competed three beautiful routines with confidence and grace. Their strength in artistry helped them stand out amongst the senior division especially in their balance earning them a 9.1 artistry mark. This was the pairs first international competition together and they competed their best routines all season earning them the Gold medal!
